SEDIMENTATIONS
Group show - Mulhouse Photo Biennial
© Ali Uchida
The PEP x BPM exhibition "Sedimentations" invites viewers to see the world not as a fixed surface, but as a layered continuum of time, matter, memory, and transformation. From geological strata to emotional traces, sedimentation offers a lens through which to explore both external landscapes and inner worlds. It evokes cycles of accumulation and erosion, visibility and disappearance, of what is kept and what resurfaces.

The works in this exhibition reflect on the many forms of sedimentation shaping contemporary life. They explore how identities, places, histories, and relationships build up over time, what is buried, and what comes back to the surface. Through landscapes, archives, portraits, and experimental approaches, these photographic and lens-based works capture traces, layer meaning, and reveal what lies beneath.

Sedimentations offers a space to reflect on how things accumulate, dissolve, and reconfigure - both in the world around us and within ourselves.
